If life is a highway, then healing is a constant destination a few miles away that’s just out of reach. It feels like I’ve gone through hell and back lately. My father survived cancer, my longest relationship of 15 years ended 6 months ago, and the other longest relationship (Otis) is nearing the end. Loneliness, self-worth, guilt, identity, gratitude, and healing are all things I’ve struggled with during this time. I couldn’t and wouldn’t have survived without my friends, family, and therapy. It’s taken me a long time to build up the nerve to share this publicly, but I do it now from a place of love and gratitude. Even though this all crashed down on me after putting out the best record of my life, I am excited and hopeful about the songs I’ve been writing lately. They pull from a deeper place than ever before. I fell in love with gardening, fitness, consistent journaling/writing. I set aside time for myself often and with no regard to how social I am being. I see my friends and family more. I help my neighbors out and hang with them as well. I’ve taken a home that felt like a shell of a failed relationship and put my whole self into remaking it into a place that feels like a success. 2025 will undoubtedly go down as one of the hardest years of my life, but out of all the pain and heartache, I am propelled into a new and better chapter of the life of Taylor Wilkins. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with a carefulness and discerning nature knowing that something was clearly going on. It feels good to be in this place now, but if being fully healed always feels a little out of reach, then it must be worth the effort to keep pushing towards it.
