My latest solo album “History” is out today. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of some dear friends and wonderful musicians - I thank all of you sincerely for your time, creativity and heart. A final thanks to James Jones for allowing me the use of his lithograph “Aesthetics of Silence” - a piece that served as a focal point in every living room of every one of my childhood homes. One final single before my record “History” drops this Wednesday. This is a duet with my brother @samsamkossler on the pedal steel. Your encouragement and musical contributions were a massive part of making this record - I’m grateful, dude. Thanks again to James Jones for allowing me to share his art through this process - I aim to create music that captures the same depth as his paintings. New single - “Vegas” is out today, on all platforms. I sent this to David Grissom in its infant phase and the parts he sent really set a course for the tune, thanks for your masterful work, David! Dwight Baker sent a wonderful, hypnotic drum part that serves as a foundation, kinda Mule Variations-esque. Keith Carlock brought the groove and energy in spades, as he always does. Tim Lefebvre rocks so hard on a 50’s P. This was a blast to make, and truly a dream band. A few shots from Austin City Limits 50th birthday taping - had the great pleasure to play with Lloyd Maines and the ACL All-Stars - David Grissom, Bill Whitbeck and Tom Van Schaik. We got to back up Gary Clark, Jr. and Eve Monsees, Leon Bridges, and Rufus Wainwright. Great hang and great night of music!

“The Hat Is Mine” is out today! @johnebaumann is one of my favorite artists in Texas music, a writer’s writer - a poet. This song blew me away when he sent it to me. We wanted to keep it sparse to serve the lyric, and my guys @samsamkossler on beautiful pedal steel and @brenvio with beautiful violins and violas are always the move - thanks dudes. JB delivered a moving vocal on this timeless song. I’m grateful to have produced and mixed this one. @testtubeaudio with a lovely master. Hope y’all dig!
