Very Necessary presents The World Is Yours Official SXSW Showcase at Mohawk (Inside) March 18, 2026 | 7PM-2AM Very Necessary returns to SXSW for its 4th official showcase , bringing a curated lineup of artists and collaborators for a full night of live performances, special guests, and community energy. Lineup highlights include: Valee, Bobby Raps, Pyrex, and more (with additional guest appearances to be announced). The event will also feature a playable Guitar Hero activation by Dont Fret Show , with songs from artists on the lineup available for fans to play onsite. As the 2025-26 Avon High School Band season is coming to a close, we are looking forward to the 2026 Avon Marching Black & Gold Golf Outing coming up on Sunday, August 9th! Your Avon Marching Black & Gold are once again ISSMA State and BOA National Champions for the third straight year. Additionally, our amazing Winter groups performed very well both in State and National Competitions. As amazing as our students, directors and staff are, we know that none of this is possible without those who support this award-winning band program! Your previous participation in the Annual Golf Outing has been instrumental in the success of Avon’s extraordinary band program, and we are once again asking for your support while having fun in the sun. Please see the attached flyer for more information to register and/or becoming a sponsor of the golf outing. Sponsorship provides exposure opportunities for your business the day of the outing as well as our banner that is displayed at various band events hosted at Avon High School. We have added two new award categories for worst score and a consolation score card draw along with our regular long drive & closest to the pin competitions. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Lane Summerlin, our newest band director at Avon High School!! Dr. Lane Summerlin earned his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from The Ohio State University in 2016. He also holds a Master of Music degree from The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Dr. Summerlin has enjoyed an extensive career in the marching arts. He currently serves as the Front Ensemble Caption Head for Rhythm X, who were recently crowned the 2026 WGI Independent World Class Champions. Lane is also a Percussion Caption Manager at The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Prior to joining the team at Avon, Dr. Summerlin was an Associate Professor at IU-Indianapolis where he taught courses in music. He was also a Percussion Specialist at Carmel High School. Lane proudly endorses Zildjian cymbals, Evans drumheads, and Innovative Percussion products. Welcome Dr. Summerlin!!
