If there was ever a doubt that I’m a blessed gal, yesterday settled it. My friends threw me the sweetest surprise party, and it was a night full of love and laughter. The kind of joy you wish you could bottle up and hold forever. I’m so grateful for the people God has placed in my life, near and far. I love y’all dearly. I grew up watching my grandfather, my father, my uncles, my cousins, and my brother work the Leon River bottom. In the fall, Reese would take me hunting in that same field where triticale grew thick, because the whitetail loved it. We watched it flood when the rains came hard and the river climbed its banks. We watched it dry out like a bleached bone under the harsh Texas summer sun. This song isn’t really about farming, but it borrows the language of it. About planting and waiting. About pouring yourself into something and wondering if anything will rise. It’s about feeling stuck. Like your hands are full of seed and the sky won’t open. “Tethered” will be out next Friday, 2/20. And don’t forget, the sun still shines🤍
